We are thrilled to share some exciting news with you. Following the success of our film River of Freedom, we’re now creating a book which we’re hoping to release by the end of the year. Siân and I have just finished the first draft, and we’re proud of how it’s coming together.

We felt we had so much powerful material from our conversations with everyone, we wanted to honour the voices of resilience at the protest and during the tough times of the mandates. The book dives deeper, weaving together a range of perspectives while keeping the same authentic, heartfelt storytelling as the film—capturing the lived experiences of those moments that led to the Parliament protest. It’s another way to create a lasting account for future generations, so New Zealand never forgets.

We’re so grateful for the courage and generosity of everybody who shared their story with us at the time. We’ve taken great care to keep the story factual, respectful, and true to everyone’s experiences. The book is 13 chapters, about 360 pages, and with full-colour full-page photos.

You’re a vital part of this project because we’ve included material from our interview with you. Before we move forward, we’d love to have your permission please to include your contribution in the book? Could you please let us know before the end of June if you’re okay with this or if you have any questions? Or if you have any ideas for the release events or want to help ...

Thank you again for being part of this, another journey!
